"You never know who you're going to pick up next." That's the pitch from Saber Interactive for Rideshare "Stimulator," a new driving sim that asks you to build a rideshare business in a city where every passenger seems like they wandered in from a different game entirely. One guy insists birds control the traffic lights. Another clarifies he's not banned from all aquariums, just the one. A third compares you unfavourably to her grandson.

Developed by UNIGINE and published by Saber, the game was announced for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, with a release window of later in 2026. No specific date yet.

Saber has built a serious catalogue in the sim space. SnowRunner, RoadCraft, and Bus Bound have all carved out audiences among players who like their vehicles heavy and their terrain unforgiving. Rideshare "Stimulator" is a sharp left turn from hauling lumber through Siberian mud. Here, you're navigating traffic lights and pedestrian crossings while someone in your back seat explains why the moon landing was faked. I didn't have "Uber driver sim" on my 2026 bingo card, but the passenger angle gives this something most driving sims completely lack: a reason to care about what happens inside the car.

The core loop sounds straightforward. Pick up passengers, get them where they're going, obey traffic laws, earn ratings and tips, then spend that money on vehicle repairs and upgrades. Your driving style and car condition directly affect passenger reactions, so running red lights or rolling up in a filthy sedan will tank your reviews. Between fares, you clean, fix, and maintain your vehicle. It's the mundane reality of gig work, packaged as a gameplay loop.

Satire or just simulation?

There's an obvious tension in making a game about a job that millions of people do for difficult pay. Gamifying gig economy labour without acknowledging how exploitative it can be would feel tone-deaf, and I think the satirical passenger writing is where this game either succeeds or falls flat. The trailer leans hard into absurdist humour, with passengers delivering one-liners that land somewhere between a late-night comedy sketch and a Reddit thread about nightmare Uber rides. If UNIGINE commits to that tone throughout, there's real potential here. If it's just window dressing over a straight driving sim, the novelty will burn off fast.

The game's environments pull from both European and American city designs, with dynamic traffic systems that include yielding to pedestrians and waiting at lights. Visually, it's going for a photorealistic look, which is a predictable choice for the sim crowd but does make the cartoonish passenger dialogue feel slightly at odds with the presentation. A slightly stylised art direction might have sold the comedy better.

Saber hasn't locked down a specific release date, but the Xbox Store page is already live. For a publisher that's spent years earning trust with hardcore sim fans through SnowRunner's brutal off-road challenges, a pivot to urban rideshare driving with conspiracy theorist passengers is about as unexpected as it gets. I'm curious whether the writing can carry it past the first few hours.
