Mistfall Hunter's Best Builds for Every Class So Far
Mistfall Hunter launched last week and players are already carving out the meta. Here's what's working across every class so far.

"The Sorcerer is one of the most powerful classes in Mistfall Hunter, but you have to get a proper build to use it effectively." That line, pulled from Destructoid's early build guides, could apply to almost every class in Bellring Games' extraction RPG. Mistfall Hunter launched on Steam on July 29, and the first week has been a scramble of players testing skill trees, swapping weapons mid-run, and dying to Berserkers while fumbling for chest keys. I've been watching the meta take shape in real time, and a few builds are already pulling ahead.
The game offers a surprisingly deep class roster for an extraction shooter. You've got your Sorcerer (glass cannon with massive AOE), Shadowstrix (stealth assassin built for ambushes), Seer (support/healer that practically demands a trio), plus the Mercenary, Withered Knight, and Blackarrow filling out melee, tank, and ranged roles respectively. Each class splits into two skill schools, and the interplay between those schools is where the real build diversity lives.
Sorcerer, Shadowstrix, and Seer
The Sorcerer's Elemental school is dominating early. Fire Bolt and Thunderstrike give you ranged burst damage, while Crystal Icebolt provides a passive defensive layer that auto-targets attackers. The Elemental Affinity passive stacks marks on enemies and triggers bonus magic damage at two stacks, which rewards you for cycling between fire, ice, and lightning rather than spamming one element. Stardust offers flashier options like Meteor Impact, which knocks enemies airborne, but the Elemental path gives you more consistent DPS and better energy management. The tradeoff is survivability; this class has some of the lowest health in the game, so positional awareness is everything. If a mob closes the gap on you, you're probably dead.
The Shadowstrix plays like a proper assassin class with its Dagger school. Sneak lets you enter stealth, Flash Stride dashes you through enemies dealing physical damage, and Shadow Wheel Slash chains a three-stage combo that restores energy on each branching attack. The Dual Blades school exists as an alternative, but most players are running Dagger for its stealth synergy. Smoke Bomb obstructs enemy vision while giving you better sight lines inside the cloud, which is brutal in PvP. The class counters Sorcerers and Seers hard but struggles against the Mercenary and Withered Knight, both of which thrive in close-range brawls where the Shadowstrix's low health becomes a death sentence.
The Seer is the class I find most interesting right now. Its Catalyst school runs on a Psionic Energy system where basic Psionic Orb attacks generate energy, which you then spend summoning runes. Healing Rune restores ally health over time, Shelter Rune grants scaling shields, and Stealth Rune cloaks your entire team without breaking on damage. In trios, a good Seer is almost mandatory. The Reverent path focuses on ranged support while the Blasphemer path pushes you into melee, and I can't see any reason to go Blasphemer unless you're running solo and feeling brave. The class has limited DPS and long casting times at lower levels, so playing Seer in solos is an exercise in patience.
For the Mercenary and Withered Knight, both are melee-focused tanks that punish anyone trying to fight them up close. They're the natural counter to the Shadowstrix and pair well with a backline Sorcerer or Seer in trios. The Blackarrow fills the dedicated ranged physical damage role, sitting somewhere between the Sorcerer's magic burst and the Shadowstrix's hit-and-run style.
What strikes me about Mistfall Hunter's class design is how much it rewards team composition over individual skill. Solo players can make almost anything work, but trios with a tank, a carry, and a Seer feel like the intended experience. The camp upgrade system, which gates progression behind crafting materials like Pearl Dust and Velgr Feathers, adds another layer where your build choices ripple outward into resource priorities. Bellring Games has achieved something ambitious with this class system for a studio most people hadn't heard of two weeks ago. Whether the meta calcifies into a stale trio template or keeps evolving depends entirely on how quickly they balance around what players discover next.
