Gran Turismo 7 Drops a 1,286-BHP Supercar and a Twingo
Update 1.69 pairs a Chinese electric hypercar that hits 62 mph in 2.36 seconds with a tiny French hatchback from 1993. Only Gran Turismo.

A 960 kW electric supercar that hits 62 mph in 2.36 seconds and a 1.2-litre French hatchback designed for city errands. In the same free update. This is what makes Gran Turismo's car roster one of the most interesting things in gaming, and update 1.69 leans into that contrast harder than usual.
The headliner is the 2024 Yangwang U9, BYD's luxury performance brand entry that puts an electric motor on each wheel for a combined 1,286 BHP. According to the PlayStation Blog, it features a DiSus-X suspension system combining hydraulic and pneumatic control, scissor doors styled by Wolfgang Egger, and enough straight-line violence to embarrass most European hypercars. It's available in Brand Central.
Then there's the 1993 Renault Twingo. A three-door monospace hatchback with its wheels pushed to the corners, a modest inline-four under the hood, and sliding rear seats. It was built to Parisian side streets, not compete at Interlagos. Polyphony Digital lists it in the Used Cars dealership, which feels appropriate. I love that this car exists in the same game as a vehicle that could probably outrun most fighter jets off the line. It's the kind of roster decision that reminds you Polyphony cares about cars as cultural objects, not just performance numbers on a spec sheet.
Rounding out the trio is the 1993 Porsche 911 Turbo S Leichtbau (964), available from Legend Cars. Only 86 of these were ever produced, packing 375.7 BHP from an upgraded 3.6-litre flat-six with lightweight body panels. It sits neatly between the Twingo and the Yangwang on the absurdity scale, a rare piece of automotive history that Porsche fans have been asking about for a while.
Beyond the Garage
The update isn't just cars. Three new World Circuits events have been added: a Schwarzwald League race at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve, a Hypercar Parade at Yas Marina Circuit, and a World Touring Car 900 event at Autódromo de Interlagos. There's also a new Café Extra Menu focused on Muscle Cars for players at Collector Level 55 or above, and a batch of engine swaps covering ten cars, including the Twingo, the Leichtbau, the Lexus LFA, and the Renault Kangoo.
The other notable addition is Power Pack Challenges, a new mode tied to the paid Power Pack DLC on PS5. Brand manager David Robinson explained on the PlayStation Blog that players earn rewards based on races completed within a set period, with rewards rotating weekly. It's a live-service-flavoured loop bolted onto an expansion that already costs extra, so whether this feels like added value or a retention mechanic will depend on how generous those weekly rewards actually are.
One thing the update doesn't include is a native PSSR2 patch for PS5 Pro. Multiple outlets have noted that players were hoping Polyphony would address reported glitches with the system-level toggle, and the omission is disappointing for a game that still looks as good as anything on the platform. Gran Turismo 7 has been receiving free content updates for over four years now, and the pace hasn't slowed. Update 1.69 went live today, April 23, at 2:00 AM ET, with the next update expected in late May.
