Genshin Impact Luna VII Finally Makes the Hexenzirkel Playab

After years of teasing the Hexenzirkel as background lore, HoYoverse is finally putting one of its mages on the battlefield. Nicole Reeyn headlines Genshin Impact's Luna VII update on May 20.

Since the Teyvat Travails trailer first name-dropped the Hexenzirkel, players have been waiting to actually use one of these enigmatic mages in combat. That wait ends on May 20, when Genshin Impact's Version Luna VII update goes live with Nicole Reeyn as the first playable Hexenzirkel member.

HoYoverse revealed the full details during a Special Program livestream. Nicole is a 5-Star Pyro Catalyst wielder built around team support: her Elemental Skill grants an ATK bonus to all party members, even those off-field, while generating a shield. Her Elemental Burst summons an Arcane Projection that follows your active character and fires Coordinated Attacks matching that character's element, with extra power under the Hexerei: Secret Rite effect. She can even call a Seelie via her Charged Attack to guide you toward treasure. For a character the community has been theorycrafting about for years, that kit sounds like it was designed to slot into nearly any roster, and I suspect she'll be one of the most-pulled banners in a long time.

Nicole isn't alone. Lohen, Vice Captain of the Knights of Favonius' Fifth Company, joins as a 5-Star Cryo Polearm wielder with an aggressive playstyle built around managing two unique resources called Joy and Will to Win. His Masterstroke state lets him build and consume Joy for enhanced skills, while Will to Win stacks as teammates fight. Prune rounds out the trio as a 4-Star Anemo Catalyst wielder who swings a bell and a giant hammer to trigger multi-element Swirl reactions. Nicole and Prune debut in the first banner phase alongside a Durin rerun, while Lohen and a Mavuika rerun follow in the second half.

The update's Archon Quest returns to Sumeru, where Nahida has fallen into a mysterious slumber and a new adversary bearing a suspicious resemblance to Il Dottore has surfaced. Completing the chapter during the limited window earns 560 Primogems and Nicole's Ascension Materials, plus unlocks a new Weekly Boss. A Guiding Notes feature will recap past story events for returning players, and quest autosave prompts are getting improved. New artifact sets, Celestial Gift and Disenchantment in Deep Shadow, arrive alongside signature weapons for Nicole and Lohen.

A limited-time event focused on Klee's Little Hexenzirkel offers mini-games with Qiqi, Yaoyao, Sayu, and Prune, with an exclusive weapon skin called Super Awesome Magic Key as the reward. Genshin Impact is free-to-play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and mobile.
