Cyclops and The Thing Blast Into Marvel Cosmic Invasion
Two fan-favourite Marvel heroes join the beat 'em up roster today in a surprise $3.99 DLC drop, and a second content wave is already confirmed for later this year.

$3.99 for two new brawlers. Publisher Dotemu and developer Tribute Games dropped a surprise DLC pack for Marvel Cosmic Invasion today, adding Cyclops and The Thing to the arcade-style beat 'em up's roster. Both characters come with unique movesets and dialogue, and they're sold together as a single bundle across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
Cyclops plays exactly how you'd want him to: optic blasts that can be aimed diagonally, making him a natural counter to airborne enemies in a genre that usually forces you to wait for foes to land before you can punish them. That diagonal aiming alone sets him apart from most of the existing roster. The Thing, meanwhile, leans into grappling and raw power, but Tribute has given him surprising mobility; he can bounce across environments to close gaps, which keeps him from feeling like a slow tank you'd only pick for co-op carry duty. On paper, the two complement each other well, with Cyclops handling aerial threats while The Thing dominates the ground game.
More DLC This Fall
Tribute and Dotemu also confirmed a second DLC wave planned for fall 2026, which will include a new game mode and two additional playable characters. No details on who those characters are yet, but given that Cyclops was described as "one of the most-requested additions by fans," I'd expect the studio to keep mining the community wishlists.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion has sold over 1.5 million copies worldwide, which is a strong number for a retro-styled brawler in a market that doesn't always reward the genre. Tribute Games clearly earned enough goodwill with the base game to justify continued support, and I'm glad they're pricing this fairly rather than carving up the roster into individual $2.99 character packs. Two characters with distinct playstyles for four dollars is reasonable, especially when a second wave is already on the roadmap.
Cyclops showing up here alongside his upcoming appearance in Marvel Rivals makes this a quietly big stretch for Scott Summers in games. The character has been underserved for years, and it's satisfying to see two different studios independently decide he deserves a proper showcase. The DLC is available now on all platforms.
