Arknights: Endfield Adds Lightning Swordswoman April 17
Version 1.2 'At the Wake of Spring' hits Arknights: Endfield on April 17, bringing a new playable Operator, a boss fight against Nefarith, and expanded factory-building systems.
Zhuang Fangyi has been hovering in the background of Arknights: Endfield's Wuling storyline for a while now, and on April 17 she finally steps into the player roster. Publisher GRYPHLINE and developer Mountain Contour confirmed the version 1.2 update, titled "At the Wake of Spring," launches that date across all platforms.
Zhuang Fangyi's kit is built around Electric damage paired with swordplay, which on paper is a combination that should carve out a distinct identity in Endfield's combat. Lightning-based attacks that feed into a melee-focused style could mean a lot of things mechanically, and the character trailers released today give a decent visual read on how that plays out. She's been central to the Wuling plot already, so her playable debut carries actual narrative weight rather than feeling like a character dropped in from nowhere to fill a banner slot. That's not nothing.
A Boss Fight and a Storyline Conclusion
The update's story content is framed around a crisis at the Marker Stone area, a facility described as critical to Wuling's stability. Ardashir shows up unexpectedly, Zhuang Fangyi sends an urgent message, and Nefarith moves into open conflict. That last point is the headline for returning players: version 1.2 includes the first direct battle against Nefarith, which has been building across the Wuling arc. Whether that encounter actually delivers on the setup is something we'll find out next week, but the framing suggests GRYPHLINE is treating this as a proper arc conclusion rather than a mid-season filler drop.
Beyond the story, the update expands Endfield's factory-building systems with a new outpost, new resources, and new production options. A Test Area tied to post-disaster restoration and regional exploration is also coming, though GRYPHLINE notes it will open later in the update cycle rather than at launch on the 17th. The full update also includes new event content, quality-of-life improvements across progression, combat, and industrial management, and additional player rewards.
Arknights: Endfield is available now on PlayStation 5, PC via the official launcher and Epic Games Store, iOS, and Android. Version 1.2 drops April 17.
