Activision Silenced One Leaker, but MW4 Leaked Anyway
Activision took legal action against one Call of Duty leaker earlier this year. A different leaker just posted the MW4 cover art anyway, seemingly confirming everything the first one said.

Earlier this year, Activision took legal action against Call of Duty leaker Ghost of Hope, demanding they stop sharing confidential information about the publisher's games. Ghost of Hope had already claimed the next entry would be called Modern Warfare 4 and would feature a campaign set in South and North Korea. Today, a completely different leaker posted what appears to be the game's cover art, and it lines up with everything Activision tried to suppress.
Reliable leaker billbil-kun shared a blurred image on X described as cover art "for one of Activision's games," with the image description noting it was "blurred intentionally for legal reasons." The post includes the Korean character 사, which translates to "four." The cover itself shows three soldiers advancing toward the camera, a departure from the series' usual single-soldier composition. Billbil-kun has a strong track record here; back in 2024, they shared similarly blurred and watermarked key art for Black Ops 6 that turned out to be accurate.
The Korean character is the real tell. Before being shut down, Ghost of Hope claimed the game was internally titled "Modern Warfare 사" and that the campaign would feature South Korea and North Korea prominently, with factions including the 141, SAS, and Republic of Korea Army working to stop Makarov and the Konni Group. If billbil-kun is deliberately nodding to that detail, it's a pretty clear signal that Ghost of Hope had it right. There's funny about Activision going through the legal machinery to silence one source, only for the same information to surface through someone else weeks before the expected reveal. I'm not sure what Activision thought the endgame was; you can shut down one person, but you can't plug every hole in a franchise this massive.
With the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 expected in the coming weeks, a full reveal is likely imminent. Infinity Ward is the lead developer, and Activision has already confirmed the next Call of Duty will drop last-gen consoles entirely and won't be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch. Call of Duty games typically release between October and November, so a summer showcase slot lines up with the usual marketing cadence.
