Paramount’s latest addition to the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, Knuckles, burst onto the scene on April 26 with a groundbreaking impact. The show not only became the most-watched Paramount+ original series of all time but also set a new global record for the streaming service. In just its first three days, over 4 million hours of content were streamed, solidifying Knuckles as the top 'kids-and-family' title on Paramount+.

This remarkable success has not only delighted fans but also had a significant ripple effect on other Sonic titles available on the platform. Viewership of Sonic content skyrocketed by more than 278% globally, showcasing the immense popularity and enduring appeal of the iconic blue hedgehog.

Jeff Grossman, Paramount+ executive vice president of programming, expressed his excitement for the overwhelming support from Sonic fans, stating, "The Sonic the Hedgehog fans came out in full-force. We’re so thrilled with the record-breaking performance of Knuckles and the incredible lift the whole Sonic universe has experienced following Knuckles’ premiere."

Despite its impressive viewership numbers, Knuckles has faced mixed reviews from critics. While the show boasts a respectable Rotten Tomatoes score of 72% among TV critics and 73% among audiences, some video game publications have been more critical of the series.

As fans eagerly await more Sonic content, it's worth noting that the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has seen immense success in recent years. The first movie in 2020 was a box office hit, grossing nearly $320 million, and its sequel in 2022 continued the trend by generating over $405 million.
