This year marks nearly 30 years since Adam Sandler's iconic sports comedy, Happy Gilmore, was released. For quite some time, audiences have been eager for a sequel to the beloved classic, and now it appears that their wishes are being granted.

In 2018, Adam Sandler made a casual agreement about a sequel, but now the news has been officially announced, as reported by Variety. During Amazon's upfronts, the streaming platform confirmed that Happy Gilmore 2 is currently in the works, much to the entertainment of fans everywhere.

Christopher McDonald, renowned for his portrayal of the notorious Shooter McGavin in the original film, told Cleveland's 92.3 The Fan radio show that he had laid eyes on an early version of the script for the sequel. His enthusiasm knows no bounds as he expresses his eagerness for the project, hinting at his possible return to the role.

While Adam Sandler is the only one officially announced to revive his character in Happy Gilmore 2, it seems probable that other familiar faces such as Lisa Ann Walter may make a comeback. Following their successful collaboration on Netflix's The Do-Over, fans are excited about the prospect of their reunion on screen.

Despite the passing of time, some of the original film's cherished stars have regrettably left us. Their legacy lives through their remarkable performances in Happy Gilmore, forever etched in the minds of fans all over.
