Following a rocky period post the launch of Payday 3, the company has announced the departure of CEO Tobias Sjögren and the appointment of Juergen Goeldner as the interim CEO.

According to a recent notice to investors, Starbreeze stated that it is in need of "different leadership" after facing challenges in the aftermath of Payday 3’s release. Starbreeze chairman Torgny Hellström emphasized the company's strategy focused on creating appealing games based on both original and licensed IPs, indicating a need for a change in leadership to effectively execute this vision.

Regarding the recent changes, Hellström expressed gratitude towards Sjögren for his contributions over the past three years and wished him success in his future endeavors. Sjögren, on the other hand, has remained silent on the matter.

On the bright side, interim CEO Juergen Goeldner is upbeat about the future of Starbreeze. He mentioned, "Starbreeze has a strong history of developing and publishing games globally. After launching Payday 3, the company is well-positioned to leverage the strengths of the organization to monetise and develop the IP portfolio."

Despite the setbacks faced by Starbreeze, there is optimism within the company about the potential for growth and success moving forward. With Goeldner at the helm, the focus is on executing a strong strategy and capitalizing on the established IP portfolio.

As fans eagerly await updates and improvements to the Payday 3 experience, the changes in leadership at Starbreeze could mark a new chapter for the company and its flagship franchise.
