Grounded 2 Patch 0.4.2 Has Been Released Notes (17th June 2026)

Grounded 2's biggest performance patch yet is live, and it comes with a significant trade-off for base builders.

Patch 0.4.2 is live for Grounded 2, and Obsidian's tackling the performance issues that have been plaguing the park since launch. The studio reduced streaming range so fewer objects load at once, which should kill the stuttering and hitching that's been making bases feel sluggish. They're claiming 35% of the crashes from patch 0.4.1 should be fixed here too.

Here's the catch: all resources now respawn everywhere, including inside your bases. It's a necessary side effect of the optimization, but it means you can't just clear an area and call it clean anymore. To soften the blow, the Omni-Tool now one-hits all re-growing resources on player-built structures, so harvesting shouldn't be a chore.

Obsidian also fixed a softlock with AXL mid-fight and some rotation issues with corner stairs. This is the performance push the community's been waiting for, though the resource respawning will take some adjustment. Check what else changed in the full notes below.

Nerf Fix Tweak

Hello friends,

Patch 0.4.2 for Grounded 2 is now available to all players. Thank you again for your patience; we greatly appreciate the reports everyone has submitted to our support team! We hope this update will address the performance issues you've been experiencing.

Performance Optimizations:

  • Reduced the streaming range of the player, so that less things now load at one time. This should cause significantly less hitching around the Park
  • This will cause all resources to re-grow through your bases
  • Performance around player bases and the Park have been optimized to reduce stutters and hitching

    Omni-Tool Change:

    • Due to the changes listed above, we have changed the Omni-Tool to one-hit all resources that are re-growing only through player-built structures
    • This will occur again in the 0.5 "Into the Abyss" Update on August 11
    • We expect this to be taken full advantage of, have fun.

    Crashing/Stability:

    • Fixed various crashes in 0.4.2.
    • 35% of the crashes hit in 0.4.1 should be fixed in 0.4.2

    Bug Fixes:

    • Fixed an issue where AXL could be softlocked mid fight and roar infinitely
    • Fixed an issue that was causing Half Int. Corner Stairs to change and rotate into a different position
