A Pragmata Character Just Hijacked Onimusha's Twitter
Capcom let Pragmata protagonist Diana take over the official Onimusha Twitter page, teasing that she found a release date for Way of the Sword buried in hacked files before being pulled away.

Someone took over the official Onimusha Twitter account yesterday, and it wasn't a hacker. It was Diana, one of the two protagonists of Capcom's recent hit Pragmata, posting in-character tweets as part of a cross-promotion stunt that spanned multiple Capcom social media pages.
The bit played out across a series of posts. Diana shared gameplay screenshots from Onimusha: Way of the Sword, wrote about learning Japanese, and then claimed she'd found a file containing the game's release date. Right as she was about to download it, Pragmata's other lead, Hugh, told her it was time to leave. She signed off in Japanese without revealing the date. It's the kind of fourth-wall-breaking marketing that either makes you grin or roll your eyes, and I think Capcom earned this one. Pragmata sold a million copies in its first two days and received strong reviews; using its characters as a vehicle to hype another game is a clever flex that only works when the source material already has goodwill behind it.
The tease lines up with what Capcom signalled back in March, when the publisher said Way of the Sword was in the "final stages of development." With Summer Game Fest kicking off in June, a full date reveal at a Capcom Spotlight showcase feels like the obvious next move. Way of the Sword is the first mainline Onimusha since 2006's Dawn of Dreams, and Capcom has been positioning it as something distinct from the wave of Soulslikes on the market, leaning harder into action-horror and away from punishing difficulty.
Capcom's 2026 has been absurd. Between Resident Evil: Requiem and Pragmata, the publisher has two critical and commercial hits already locked in this year. If Way of the Sword lands with the same quality, that's three major wins in a single calendar year from a company that was struggling to find its footing barely a decade ago. I'm not sure any other publisher can match that pace right now.
No platforms or concrete release window were confirmed through the Twitter stunt itself, though the game was first announced at The Game Awards in 2024 and is built on Capcom's RE Engine.
