Jason Citron, the founder and face of Discord for the past decade, is stepping down as CEO, a role he’s occupied since launching the platform ten years ago. His successor? Humam Sakhnini, who's bringing a treasure trove of industry experience from his time at Activision Blizzard, where he worked on fan-favorite games like World of Warcraft and Call of Duty.
Today I’m excited to share that Humam Sakhnini will be joining @discord as our new CEO.

Building Discord has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences of my life. What started as a simple idea—to help friends talk while playing games—has grown into something far…
Citron isn’t disappearing, though! He’ll remain part of the Discord family as a member of the board and will guide Sakhnini in an advisory role. In his message, Citron shared, “The job of a CEO is constantly evolving,” noting it was time to “literally hire myself out of a job."
Sakhnini is excited to lead Discord into this new era. He acknowledges the platform's pivotal role in gaming, stating, “Discord stands as a massive, foundational part of the gaming ecosystem.” He aims to ensure that as the company grows and potentially prepares for a public offering, it will maintain the same vibe and values that have made it a beloved space for gamers worldwide.
