Key Personnel Shifts at NetEase Amid Global Expansion

Big changes are happening at NetEase, one of the big guns in game publishing, as Simon Zhu, former president for global investments, has said goodbye after over a decade. Dropping the bombshell on LinkedIn, Zhu shared heartfelt thanks to teammates and collaborators who joined him on this epic journey since day one. Zhu has definitely left his mark, and now it’s time for Ken Li to step up as the new VP.

So, who's Ken Li? Well, he's not just a familiar face at NetEase since 2003, but also the brain behind Fantasy Westward Journey and a key figure in the 15-year partnership with Blizzard. Zhu himself believes Li will lead the team "to new heights," with William Ding continuing to spearhead First Party Studios' game development.

Interestingly, Zhu's departure is just the tip of the iceberg. Matthew Weissinger and Matthew Liu, two other high-ranking officials, also recently left the company. While these exits may sound like big shifts, NetEase stays the course on its mission to expand its gaming footprint globally, reaffirming their commitment to both old and new gamers worldwide.
