Is InZoi the New Sims Killer or Has Its Player Base Crashed Too Soon?

If you're into life sims, you’ve probably heard the name InZoi being tossed around as the "Sims Killer." This new kid on the block burst onto the scene, selling over a million copies at breakneck speed. But it looks like those shiny sales numbers have lost a bit of their luster as InZoi's player count has taken a nosedive - 83% to be precise.

Rrecent data from SteamDB reveals that on April 24, InZoi's player count averaged just 3,751, which is a steep drop from earlier numbers, and alarmingly close to the figures of The Sims 3, yes, the game from 2009. Compare this to an earlier peak where InZoi was rocking about 87,000 players, and, well, it's a head-scratcher for sure.

To put it in perspective, the game is now averaging just slightly more players than The Sims 3, with only around 2,500 more troopers slogging through InZoi's virtual world. For a title that launched with such fanfare, this tumble is far from expected. Despite its potential and being still in early access, the sudden dip raises questions about its staying power.

Sure, it's still early days, and no one's completely writing off InZoi just yet. It's in early access, after all, where bugs and balance tweaks are part of the package. Fans are hopeful that the devs can flip the script, but seeing these kinds of stats? It’s something worth keeping an eye on.
