After a rocky launch back in December 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has undergone a significant transformation over the past three-and-a-half years. The latest financial results from CD Projekt Red have revealed that the development team has officially moved on from the game, marking the end of an era.

According to the financial presentation, not a single developer is currently working on Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time in over a decade. The team, which once consisted of 17 members as of February 29, 2024, has now disbanded, likely shifting their focus to other projects within the studio.

Cyberpunk Dev Teams Projects

CD Projekt Red concluded the development of Cyberpunk 2077 following the release of its final expansion, Phantom Liberty, in September 2023. This came after the game-changing Update 2.0, which introduced a new perk system and enhanced AI to the game. Subsequent updates, including Patch 2.1, brought further improvements but with diminishing changes.

The release of Patch 2.11 focused on addressing numerous bugs and balancing issues in the open-world RPG, while Patch 2.12 added a final layer of polish to the experience. With Cyberpunk 2077 now in a stable state, CD Projekt Red is shifting its attention towards the sequel, codenamed Orion, and the upcoming Witcher games in development.

As CD Projekt Red closes the chapter on Cyberpunk 2077, fans can look forward to the future projects that the studio has in store, including the highly anticipated sequel and new entries in The Witcher series.
